The Best Bible Songs Ever

As I said in my family camp post, we were excited to meet/see one of our favorite musicians, Jamie Soles. Doug had the opportunity to meet him last year, but the rest of us had missed out. The kids were very excited to meet him (a total understatement) and asked all month before camp, "Is Jamie Soles going to be at family camp? Is his family coming?"

And as promised, he was there. Here is a picture of his family, but the youngest is missing:

Who is Jamie Soles? Well, I think he is the best Bible songs musician ever, if that makes any sense. And he and his family are fun, godly people. I couldn't classify his musical style for you, but all his lyrics are rooted in God's word. We were introduced to his children's music last year by a good friend and were impressed by the catchiness of the songs and the cleverness of his lyrics and music. We now have a number of his albums, but I think our favorite has to be The Way My Story Goes. He writes songs about any Bible story you could ever think of and then some. He definitely does not shy away from any theme in the Bible, so my kids know about David's sin with Bathsheba, how the men of Benjamin captured their wives, what a jerk Nabal was, Micaiah's prophecy of Ahab's death, and that Sisera's head got nailed to the ground with a tent peg by Jael. Through his music you can learn all the books of the Bible, all the kings of Israel, the lineage of Jesus, the names of the patriarchs, and the amounts of the grain, sin, and peace offerings and still have fun! Plus, I don't think I know any other music that gets words and names in like Ahaserus, Zerubbabel, circumsion, and propitiation. If you want your kids (or yourself) to learn and love Bible stories deep down in their bones I highly recommend that you get his music.
