Sad Days

I found out two things over the past few days that are breaking my heart:

On Saturday, my mom called to let me know that my Grandma, who has been sick for a few weeks, was diagnosed with liver cancer. My Grandma is a fun, feisty woman and so this was sad, sad news for all of us. She is the kind of lady that I seriously thought would live to be a hundred. My aunt who lives near her has been taking care of her and making sure her needs are being met.

On Monday, I found out about the death of a young man who used to attend my former church in California. While rollerblading he was struck by a car. Please pray for the Gonzalez family - his parents and brother. They are no relation to me, but people at church used to comment that his father and I could be siblings so we got to joking around and calling each other brother and sister and he used to call my parents Mom and Dad. I don't know them nearly as well as my parents do, but I have been so burdened by this and the pain this family must be experiencing.
