Yes, that's right - we have actually lived in one place for a whole year! Today marks the completion of our first year in Spokane, WA and this is the longest we have been anywhere for a while. Since 2005, our record had been nine-and-a-half months of living in Arequipa and eight of those months were in one residence. The funny thing is although we have been here a year, I am still not completely settled. My home is not quite fully, actually, it is not even half-way decorated and there are still a few boxes that could stand to be sorted through and dealt with. But considering that Doug and I practically started from scratch last summer in terms of possessions, I think we are doing pretty well. And here's a fun (or who cares) fact: This is the 13th residence we have called home during our 9+ years of marriage and we have moved 13 times. That means on average we have moved about once out of every 8 1/2 months of marriage. No wonder why I'm tired! Seriously, although this may not be ideal, each move has been pretty sweet and I wouldn't trade them for anything. Okay, I take that back. I probably could have lived without the first house in Pucallpa which we shared with bats, cockroaches, tarantulas, wolf spiders, and a half-dozen different types of ants. But even that one made me appreciate our other house in Pucallpa for the short time we lived there.
Any bets on how many more times we will move in the next 9 years?

No more moves! Come on- ya gotta stay here for a good, long while. You can't beat the church and the school- the girls will get the most amazing education here at the Oaks, and you can't be moving them around all the time, like you could when they were little. OK- I'm getting very preachy now, but I'm really just being selfish and I don't want you guys to leave us!!!!!! We love you all very much!
We also had 8 different residences in our first 8 years of marriage. We have been here in Spokane for over two years now, and let me tell you Anna- it feels so nice to REALLY settle somewhere. And, I'm not actually talking about the house, but the community.
Any bets? You're funny! Who could guess? Maybe you guys should re-think your career paths and start a professional movers ministry! : )
