I have to admit that I absolutely LOVE the Summer Olympics. I think it is just because I have grown up watching them every time they come around. In recent years, though, I haven't had cable (or even a TV at times) and so for the 2000 and 2004 games, my mom recorded them on VHS and I was able to watch them at my leisure.
Really, I could do without most of the games, but I have a huge affection for gymnastics, and I heard my neighbor announce to her niece that the primetime showing for gymnastics starts tonight. We do happen to have a TV, but no cable or antenna, so I decided to turn it on and see if there might be a chance of getting a decent picture - nope. Then I realized that I won't be home tonight anyway and that maybe I could ask one of the neighbors to record them and then I could watch the competition. But then I remembered that I don't have a VHS player and I highly doubt that my elderly neighbors will have a DVD recorder. So, I am now wondering if there is a chance of seeing them online. It looks like NBC will not be broadcasting them online since the entire world seems to have TV access. But maybe the competitions will make there way to YouTube and I can see the gymnastics routines there. I normally mourn no loss over not being a TV viewer, but today I think I am actually regretting my choice.
