A Fun Week

Our friend AnalĂș from Arequipa, Peru was here to visit for the past week. She has been in Wheaton, Illinois for the past two years working on her master's and is now done. She came to visit last year and since the pictures that I have downloaded from her camera have none of her (I haven't downloaded our own pictures yet), I will just have to include a picture from last year when she visited us in CA.

I had a great time with her. I loved speaking Spanish again, she taught me to make a bunch of my favorite Peruvian dishes, and we got to hear about happenings at the church in Arequipa. She has had an amazing two years full of good and bad times and it was neat to hear how God has been faithful to her during this time. For those of you who don't realize, her family is like family to us, so being with her was a taste of being with them all again.

She heads back to Peru on July 10 and doesn't have any concrete idea of what is next. Her heart lies in serving the church there in Arequipa through ministering to abused women and children. She also greatly desires to see leadership training in the church although she has no idea how she might play a role in that. Please pray for her as jobs can be scarce in her city and as she would like to work in such a way that she would have adequate time to serve in the church. Please also pray as she says goodbye to good friends and mentors she has made during her time in the U.S. and as she deals with reverse culture shock in returning home.
